Halloween

At long last Halloween was upon us.  The kids got dressed at 7 freaking AM yesterday morning (and they woke up around 5:30 am because we had the time change yesterday so their bodies are all out of wack).  As a result it was like 6 pm and we already wanted to go to sleep!  We went ice skating in the morning just to pass the time and both of them found it scary but wanted to keep doing it over and over again.  So hopefully we'll go again soon but be more prepared (other kids have helmets, gloves, hats, scarfs, mittens, etc.). And hopefully by the end of the season the kids will be experts!  They have these cute little "walkers" so that the younger kids can learn a little easier.  We're going to try to see if they actually have lessons.

Anyway, we kept waiting to see when the kids would start trick or treating because we didn't know what to expect.  And we really stocked up on candy too just in case.  Sebas also changed costumes several times throughout the day so he had his very own Halloween fashion show...first Buzz PJ's, then Woody costume, then Buzz costume.

So around 6 pm when the sun goes down we started following the sound of kids and eventually bumped into a group of about 15-20 kids.  It was awesome that there were so many of them (apparently they had a birthday party or something).  But the problem was they were all more aggressive than Gabi & Sebas so any house we went to they either grabbed all the candy first or they just didn't have candy for them in that house at all.  So Gabi was super bummed at the end that she didn't really get any candy (I kept trying to sneak in candy from our house into her bag, Sebas loved that cause he thought he'd gotten it but Gabi knew better).  Imagine one house we got pretzels!  Seems like the neighborhood is just not used to getting that many kids cause no one was really prepared.  I think our house was probably the one with the most candies the kids were so excited when they hit up our house (SCORE! in French or whatever the equivalent).  I had to call my mom ahead when I saw the huge group and tell her to take a lot more candy out.  The kids were on here like a swarm of bees!  Anyway, hope next Halloween the neighbors are more prepared.

I dropped my Mom off at the airport today, I think the kids will really miss her the fact that they weren't in school all last week means they really got to spend a lot of time together.  But Gabi is super excited that her cousin Jakey is coming in 19 days (and so am I)!
