Gabi's growing up so fast

We went to the Lunken Airport Park again this Sunday. Gabi is just loving it so much. This time we went with Mara and we walked around the loop for a while while Gabi slept. When she woke up from her nap she was full of energy and ready to play. She has been going down the slide with someone always holding her hand, but this time she decided she was a grow-up girl and she was going to do it on her own. Mara and I were encouraging while Jose was having a nervous breakdown...



Here's Gabi in the swings. She makes us take her from one swing to the next to the next, and then start all over again. She just loves swinging. The funny thing is that no matter how hard we try to tell her, she will always lean forward instead of leaning back and so she always looks like she's about to flip over on her head.



And finally, here she is on top of her new discovery, the "bouncy bouncy". There's two of these "bouncy bouncies" at the park and she also makes us go back and forth from one to the next.

Gigi's Baby Shower

Even though I had barely done any planning with the exception of sending out the Evite , I did manage to pull off a very nice baby shower for Gigi. We did it at Essencha Tea House on Madison because we were too many to do it at the Bonbonerie . I got some decorations at Factory Card Outlet and recycled some other ones from Ida's baby shower last September. We had a great showing and the food at Essencha Tea House was really great. I had to bring Gabi with me because Jose had a soccer game but she did OK, even though she was a little tired because she skipped her afternoon nap. In any case, if anyone has a baby or wedding shower to plan, or just wants to go to eat at a nice place, I highly recommend Essencha Tea House . Oh, and the best part is that they serve breakfast all day, which as any friend of mine can bear witness to, is a HUGE plus for me. Climbing the corporate ladder

Everyone knows I've been having my Office Space moments more and more often lately, mostly due to my job disappearing and my new job not starting until about a month from now. Among other things, I have decided that not only will I catch up on my reading, but I will also use the internet to talk with old friends and exponentially grow my number of blogs and time spent on Facebook. But most importantly I decided I was going to take advantage of my $22 a month gym membership here at work to get in shape over the next month. Especially since I'll hopefully be pregnant soon and therefore need to desperately stay away from gaining 46 lbs. like last time! So yesterday I did a crazy elliptical workout with my workout buddy and today we did yoga. I usually try to workout at the end of the day so that I can go home afterwards and not have to shower or change here at work. Book reco: American Chica

Thankful for the Christmas holidays and a wonderful trip to Puerto Rico which allowed me to catch on my reading. On December 21st my good friend German recommended this book  and taking advantage of the fact that Amazon delivers PAPER books to Puerto Rico quickly (vs. Peru) I ordered it right away and got it on the 24th of December. What can I say? I couldn't put it down until I finished it.  Maybe because I identified a little bit too closely with the constant straddling of two worlds and the never knowing where you're really from or where you're really going. Of course I wish I had the talent to describe this bi-cultural life as beautifully as Marie Arana did, but alas, I have to be content with just being able to read such poetic stories. I cannot wait to order her other book, Lima Nights .  But first I am reading the next book of the Millenium series which I just downloaded on the Kindle last night.
