The girls make a huge comeback!

Last December I had a little Christmas dinner party at home with all our friends from Puerto Rico who are currently residing in Cincinnati (or as Graciela likes to call us, the Hotel California guests). That night after getting a little too full with the Smores we were making outside on the fire pit, we decided to come back inside and start playing board games, namely Cranium which we love! We decided to do guys vs. girls. The girls unfortunately took a huge beating, which at that time we believed was due to Tariq's smarts combined with the fact that apparently Jero was temporarily possessed by our trivia fact genius, Jaime.

Because our lives have been a little too hectic in the past few weeks with all the traveling and partying, I invited people over last night for a relaxing evening (i.e. only 3 beers instead of 20!). We decided to have a Cranium re-match, the line-up: 4 girls/3 guys. We could have thought it would be an unfair disadvantage for the girls since we had one more than the guys, but given how cocky the guys were after their first overwhelming victory, they decided it would be ok. So after having some Dewey's pizza and beer, it was ON!

This time our team make-up was a bit different. Jero, Manuel and Jose were still on the guys' team, although this time they were short Tariq. And on the girls team we had Mara, who apparently absorbed an unbelievable amount of sports trivia (specifically baseball) from her Dad while growing up, and Poli who is a very good drawer and an even better dice roller! This, combined with the guys' very bad luck at rolling the dice, made for a very interesting night. The result...a HUGE win for the girls! It wasn't even close, it was a huge blowout. Apparently the guys are also quite lacking when it comes time to do "Humdingers".

I guess the guys decided they couldn't take that bad of a beating, because they then challenged us to a game of Outburst! trying to see if they could nurse their bruised egos back to life. Outburst! was a little bit closer than Cranium, but the girls still won. One small step for Outburst!, one huge moral victory for the females. Between Mara's sports trivia expertise, Poliana's dice rolling and drawing abilities, Elika's music expertise, and my acting "abilities", our team was a well-oiled machine.

Given what sore losers guys can make, they all went home really pissed and are of course anxiously awaiting their chance to make things even again. Fat chance guys, we got our dream team and we're ready to take you on whenever you feel up to the challenge. Bring it on! (Cheesy sports analogies brought to you in part by Mara...)
