Air Shipment

Things I wish (and thought) should've been on the air shipment but weren't:

- Cat stuff: when the cat arrived I had to run out and get food, plates, cat litter, a cat litter box, and a scooper which was the HARDEST thing to find on Earth.

- My SCALE (which was a wedding gift from Mauricio): I want to know what I weigh in POUNDS not Kilos thank you.

- CAR SEATS:  We have to return the rental car today and come to realize we don't have car seats for the kids.  And I refuse to buy a new car seat because there are TWO FREAKING CAR SEATS for Sebas in the move when now we only need one because we only have one car.

- Contact lenses:   Before we left Cincinnati I bought a 6 months contact lens supply not knowing when I would find an optometrist and also being pretty sure whatever I got at Sam's club would be waaaay cheaper than what I found here.  I only packed one month's supply though (maybe 6 weeks) and I am dangerously low on that supply.  If I have to start wearing glasses I will not be a happy camper.  But hey, at least I brought my glasses with me only because I had left them in the office until the very last minute.

Gigi's Baby Shower

Even though I had barely done any planning with the exception of sending out the Evite , I did manage to pull off a very nice baby shower for Gigi. We did it at Essencha Tea House on Madison because we were too many to do it at the Bonbonerie . I got some decorations at Factory Card Outlet and recycled some other ones from Ida's baby shower last September. We had a great showing and the food at Essencha Tea House was really great. I had to bring Gabi with me because Jose had a soccer game but she did OK, even though she was a little tired because she skipped her afternoon nap. In any case, if anyone has a baby or wedding shower to plan, or just wants to go to eat at a nice place, I highly recommend Essencha Tea House . Oh, and the best part is that they serve breakfast all day, which as any friend of mine can bear witness to, is a HUGE plus for me. Marketing Jobs

In my current job I see a lot of people undergoing job transitions and looking to expand their networks in order to improve their chances of future job placement.  Today I met a very interesting woman who had a very similar profile to mine, minus the international experience.  She wanted to talk to me given my similar profile in Marketing and see how I saw the job market these days. She seemed to think that it's harder and harder to find jobs in Marketing in Peru these days. One of the reasons? It seems that because of the economic downturn and the uncertainty about the election results (sounds just like the US, I know) companies are cutting back on Marketing budgets. Sounds familiar right? DON'T. CUT. BACK. ON. MARKETING. BUDGETS. FOLKS.  Maybe there's some fat that you can trim here and there, maybe you change your marketing vehicles in favor of more cost efficient ones like Digital (and I'm not saying you should), maybe you focus more on Trade Marketing or Price
