Girls 2 - Boys 1

Well it's official, the girls ROCK at Cranium and the guys...not so much. One thing has been proven, another one is showing a high correlation but has yet to be proven. What has been proven is that, even without Poliana's lucky dice throwing, we can win the race on sheer talent. However, we did try to invoke Poliana's dice throwing soul to come and possess us a few times throughout the game, although to no avail. By the way it was also proven that I suck at dice throwing which is why I will never win the lotto or win at the casino or anything of the sort. What has yet to be proven is, Tariq is the men's cranium for Cranium. Yes, the correlation so far is 0.99, when he's there they've won when he's been absent they've lost. But we need to have one more game where Tariq is actually participating to see if the guys can manage to win again. Also, we were one "woman" down, as the fact that Gigi's preggers is causing her cranium to be split between her own body and her baby's. And yes the only reason I can say this and not offend Gigi is because I've been there myself. Anyway, here are some great video clips. One of the guys trying to guess the clue "chocolate mousse". And the next one is of the girls gloating in their victory, which of course annoys the hell out of the guys and is basically the only reason we do it. :)

The best part is Elika trying to help the guys out after their time is up on how else they could've gotten the right answer.



The golf references (in case you're wondering) that the crazy guy Jero is alluding to is about the fact that we said that if the guys won they'd get 36 holes of golf AND a trip to Formula One, but that if the girls won they've have to send us to a nice spa in Chicago. Let's see what actually ends up happening.

And those of my friends who don't live in Cincinnati are probably thinking, what a GREAT way to spend a Thursday evening. I'd much rather play Cranium than hang out in Old San Juan! Well, this life can be yours too, if you move to Cin City, Porkopolis, Cinci-nasty, whatever you want to call it...it's still rock and roll to me.

Gigi's Baby Shower

Even though I had barely done any planning with the exception of sending out the Evite , I did manage to pull off a very nice baby shower for Gigi. We did it at Essencha Tea House on Madison because we were too many to do it at the Bonbonerie . I got some decorations at Factory Card Outlet and recycled some other ones from Ida's baby shower last September. We had a great showing and the food at Essencha Tea House was really great. I had to bring Gabi with me because Jose had a soccer game but she did OK, even though she was a little tired because she skipped her afternoon nap. In any case, if anyone has a baby or wedding shower to plan, or just wants to go to eat at a nice place, I highly recommend Essencha Tea House . Oh, and the best part is that they serve breakfast all day, which as any friend of mine can bear witness to, is a HUGE plus for me. Climbing the corporate ladder

Everyone knows I've been having my Office Space moments more and more often lately, mostly due to my job disappearing and my new job not starting until about a month from now. Among other things, I have decided that not only will I catch up on my reading, but I will also use the internet to talk with old friends and exponentially grow my number of blogs and time spent on Facebook. But most importantly I decided I was going to take advantage of my $22 a month gym membership here at work to get in shape over the next month. Especially since I'll hopefully be pregnant soon and therefore need to desperately stay away from gaining 46 lbs. like last time! So yesterday I did a crazy elliptical workout with my workout buddy and today we did yoga. I usually try to workout at the end of the day so that I can go home afterwards and not have to shower or change here at work. Book reco: American Chica

Thankful for the Christmas holidays and a wonderful trip to Puerto Rico which allowed me to catch on my reading. On December 21st my good friend German recommended this book  and taking advantage of the fact that Amazon delivers PAPER books to Puerto Rico quickly (vs. Peru) I ordered it right away and got it on the 24th of December. What can I say? I couldn't put it down until I finished it.  Maybe because I identified a little bit too closely with the constant straddling of two worlds and the never knowing where you're really from or where you're really going. Of course I wish I had the talent to describe this bi-cultural life as beautifully as Marie Arana did, but alas, I have to be content with just being able to read such poetic stories. I cannot wait to order her other book, Lima Nights .  But first I am reading the next book of the Millenium series which I just downloaded on the Kindle last night.
